Week 1 - My Weight Loss blog

So far things are going well. I am down 10 pounds in the first week.
I have been limiting my carbs and eating lots of fruits and vegies. I try to eat less the 2000 calories a day. I get about 500 calories worth of exercise each day so this helps. My Basal metabolic rate burns over 1600 calories a day so I figure I am on track to lose 0.5 to 1 pound each day.

I have been getting increasingly hungry though. It would seem the longer you diet the harder it gets and I have only just finished the first week!

I have another 40 pounds to go and will keep posting here as I go.
If anyone has anything they can add that might help me out on my diet that would be great

Volumetrics Diet helps to stop hunger

I came across the Volumetrics Diet the other day and think the principles of it can help anyone who struggles during dieting with not feeling full after a meal.

The Volumetrics Diet is not a diet plan, but an eating plan. It endorses eating as much as you want of what are called low "energy density" foods. Basically, "energy density" is determined by the amount of calories contained in a given volume of food. For example, watermelon is full of water and very low in calories, thus a low energy density food. Whereas olive oil, which is very high in calories even for a small amount, is considered a high energy density food.

Really, this diet just makes sense. If you are on a traditional diet that restricts food intake and you are struggling with keeping your hunger under control, then, instead of torturing yourself so that you break down and cheat, buy yourself a big watermelon, or cantaloupe, or a bunch of oranges or grapefruit and get eating. Not only will these foods help fight the hunger demon, but they're really good for you too. Wow!! Double Bonus!
