Default When is it too much?

What are signs to watch for that would indicate you are over-exercising? is there actually a number of hours per week you should be exercising?

If you start hurting and the hurt doesn't go away. You need to give your muscles the chance to heal and build up stamina. Start off slow and gradually increase your exercise tolerance. That said, you shouldn't be exercising every single day of the week intensely.

Here are some signs to watch for:

You feel exhausted instead of energized after working out
You get sick easily
You feel depressed or down
You have "heavy" legs
You have a short temper
You are frequently sore for many days at a time
You don't sleep well or can't seem to get enough sleep

That's a great list Jan! I had no idea too much exercise could be so bad for you. I guess it really is true that too much of a good thing can be bad for you.

Thanks for this Jan. This is really good to know. I had no idea that there were so many different and (scary) signs.

Yeah. Essentially after you exercise if you don't feel well, you continually feel sore and the soreness doesn't improve or go away after a few days or after exercising again or if you feel tired...something's not right and you should re-evaluate your exercise and maybe even talk to your doctor.

Yup I know exactly what you mean but sometimes it's hard to tell if you're overdoing it if you're sore for a few days because I feel like this any time I perform a new exercise that stretches out a certain part of my body that I don't particularly use.
