I agree with all the others when they say to drink water before your meal. It will make you feel fuller so you don't just dive in and eat a whole lot. I also have smaller plates that I use for my kids and I try and use those plates when I dish up so that I know I am not getting too much food on my plate to start out. Once I finish that plate--which usually takes me a little while because I am still trying to tend to my children--I see if I am still hungry. If I am, I do get more food, but still on that little plate. I have felt so much better eating in this pattern than just dishing up a ton of food for starters.

happy, this is a great suggestion to use smaller plates. dishes these days are way too big, so using a salad plate or child's dish for your meals instead of a big dinner plate is an great way to try to control portion size.

I was terrible for eating my dinners quickly! My Mum was always saying “for goodness sake slow down!” I was then recommended to CD which helps you to curb your emotional eating and helps you to relax. I’m also finding this is helping me to eat smaller portions and eat slower! I also find drinking warm instead of cold water more palatable. I’m feeling really excited as in the last few weeks I have lost weight from my stomach, hips and thighs without even trying. I’m really finding it very helpful and feel I can gain control of my eating habits. It’s starting to make me feel good about myself again.

Yes, water before dinner is ideal to limit your eating.

i think what best solution to your problem is to not stock food in your fridge, and you can just drink plain water until you feel that your stomach is full.

Default Sometimes the hunger will be there no matter what.

When we are concentrating on food, the hunger will always be there because it is at the top of our conscious thoughts.

When I want to lose weight I try to stay MUCH more active and away from the house/refrigerator.

That dinner-time starvation hits all of us, I think. Drinking water is good. Sometimes I just cannot stomach another 2 glasses of water when I am hungry and so I will allow myself some carrot or celery sticks, possibly apple slices. I figure if I am going to eat it should at least be low-calorie and nutritious and add some roughage.

Even then sometimes I am hungry for a plate of real food.

Pamper yourself,

But when I get home and make dinner I find that I become soooo hungry. Then, when I actually eat dinner I eat so much that I probably undo all the great eating I've done throughout the day.

I am following the rules. Is there anything I can do to curb this hunger at dinner time?
What were your thoughts, helen, when you wanted to eat so much again during dinner time? I would not advise drinking water before or after meals, cos it will slow down your digestion process. If your digestion process is slowed down, it is bad for your body.

You need to notice what are the thoughts that cause you to feel like eating so much at dinner, then you can adjust your thoughts so you will not eat too much.

Hope this helps.
