Red face Getting Pregnant when Overweight

Hi All. Well my hubby and I have finally decided to begin trying for our first child (I blogged about it this morning: The Risks Obesity Poses To Pregnancy - Weight Loss Blog).

I'm just wondering if there are any women (or men) out there who can give me a few words of encouragement. I'm worried about being overweight and pregnant and hearing some experiences from other women who were overweight and pregnant would be a huge help. What were your challenges, if any? Were there any complications? Yikes, I am so nervous.

Talking got pregnant and no problems

wow guinea piggy, that is exciting for you. i just had my baby a year ago now. i can't believe it's already been that long. only now do i have time to get online and chat with you folks. when i got pregnant i weighed somewhere around 190 pounds and i am 5'4". i had no problem getting pregnant, in fact it came as quite a surprise. i never thought my weight would be an issue for getting pregnant or being pregnant. i was more concerned that i was a bit old at 32, but now i realize how ridiculous that is. anyway, i had no problems during pregnancy and i even gained more weight, of course. i gave birth to a healthy baby girl and she's perfect. of course now i have all this weight to lose and it's a bit overwhelming. i have been reading some of your posts on the blog and am really inspired by your experiences. keep up the good work and don't worry too much... everything will be fine.

G.P. I think unless you're really overweight or obese, which I don't think you are then you should be OK to get pregnant without too much troubles *fingers crossed*. Were you taking the pill before now? I ask because when you stop taking birth control pills your period may become really irregular for a few months or so. It happened to me - I was taking Tri-Cyclen for about four years and then stopped. It's been three months now and I've only had my period once. Not pregnant and checked with my doc who said this kinda thing is normal. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering what to expect when I stopped taking birth control pills. I know they say to give your body a couple of months to get back to normal, but I've been reading some stories from women who take months. Really hope that's not me, but what can I do. Anyway, learning about all this pregnancy stuff for the first time is pretty interesting. Wow, are our bodies amazing.

Hi Guinea Piggy, do not worry about gaining weight after pregnancy. My wife delievered my baby girl last Aug. But she regained her weight in 2 months. My advice is do not think of being overweight, just focus on your baby, breastfeed your baby will help in losing weight.

Being overweight is no problem in getting pregnant. But the difficult part may be to get through the 9 months before delivery. And if there is any complications you can take rest as well. After all scores of people are giving birth to babies everyday. They wouldn't if it was so difficult, would they?

That is true... one of my relative got pregnant and gained weight and because of that her sugar level raised to, so the doctor advice her to eat right and little by little she have to loss weight...
I think that it is important for you to talk to your physician to know what would be the consequences of being pregnant while you are overweight...
