Default How long can you take phentermine for?

My friend told me that phentermine is a short-term treatment. Does this mean that you're only on it for a few weeks before you have to stop it? How could such a short-term treatment be effective for helping you to lose weight?

I think it's prescribed for up to 12 weeks at a time and no more. You can't be on it for long-term because it's addictive.

Very addictive. Got the jitters, feeling like you're getting electric shocks addictive. It's really not something you mess around with.

It is only about 12 weeks that you can take Phentermine at a time. I think you can go back on it once you've been off it for a while, but your doctor would know more about that. As for addiction, mostly you go into withdrawal so you might experience side effects like headaches, depression, dizziness, diarrhea, stomach pain, high blood pressure, irritability, insomnia, etc. I don't know about jitters and electric shocks though....that seems very extreme.

I agree. I've never heard about jitters either. That said, yeah, you're not on these pill for typically longer than 12 weeks, but you may be on for less or longer, it all depends on what your doctor thinks and how well you respond to treatment.

I also agree that your doctor will tell you for how long you should take the pills. Listen to his/her instructions. If you have any questions, concerns, doubts, whatever, tell your doctor about them and he/she may adjust your dose accordingly. These pills shouldn't be taken for longer than they are prescribed and they shouldn't suddenly be stopped either. These are serious prescription drugs. Trust what a medical professional tells you should they be prescribed to you.
