Default banned ingredients

What are some other banned OTC weight loss ingredients aside from ephedra?

I didn't know there were others. That's a good question and honestly I'm kinda afraid to investigate the answer...

DMAA (also known as 1,3-dimethylamylamine, methylhexanamine or geranium extract). Fen-Phen and Sibutramine are also banned but I think these ones are drugs.

Why is DMMA banned? I'm pretty sure I saw that in some pill on the market not too long ago....

DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine) was once used in energy drinks and in diet supplements for weight loss. It has been associated with fat loss and muscle building. That said, it was taken off the market by the FDA because DMAA was being linked to seizures and arrhythmias, panic attacks, heart attacks and stroke. it's got some pretty dangerous and scary side effects, so if you do run into this ingredient on the OTC weight loss market, it's not only illegal, it's dangerous, too. Avoid it.

Wow that is a bad one. I wonder what the next scary OTC ingredient used in dietary supplements for weight loss will be. My money is on Synephrine.

yeah really. That is a scary ingredient, especially because it always seems to be combined with caffeine.
