Default Why am I not losing weight?

I've completely switching my diet to a vegan diet and I'm not losing any weight at all! I've been on the diet now for almost a month and I noticed that I've actually gained a pound! Help! What am I doing wrong?

If you're not losing weight it's got to be because you're not eating a low-calorie and low-fat diet and you are not exercising or at least not exercising enough.

Just because you go vegan doesn't mean you'll drop pounds in an instant or even at all. You can still eat plenty of foods that aren't great for your health or your weight.

I have been exercising but I guess not enough. I though that cutting out meat and products made from animals would help to lower my fat consumption. I don't know what I'm eating that could be effecting my weight. I eat fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

If you're not losing weight, you're clearly consuming too many calories.

I agree if you're not losing weight, you're still ingesting more calories than you need and you're also not exercising enough. Keep your exercise fitness-appropriate and don't starve yourself, but you might want to work on greater portion control and upping up your exercise.

It might not actually be what you're eating but what you're not doing. Have you added any exercise to your weight loss strategy? Lowering the amount of calories you eat isn't going to do much for you in the weight loss department unless you're actually making an effort to burn off the excess fat through exercise.

Exactly Beth. You can lower the number of calories you eat all you want and while this will help with a bit of weight loss, if you want to see any real improvement you got start working out.

How do I know if I'm consuming too many calories. I don't eat meat or dairy anymore. I've already lowered my fat content a lot. Are fruits and vegetables and plant-based foods really causing me to ingest that many calories!

if you're eating a lot of carbs (pasta, breads, etc.) that can pack on calories or any sweet food or drinks with lots of sugar. You can also have an issue with weight loss if you are eating too many healthy fats like tree nuts, avacado, olive oil. These foods are high in calories.

Nelly's right, just because you've eliminated certain bad fats, this doesn't mean that good fats won't pack on the pounds. You still need to eat certain foods in moderation - even the healthy ones - to avoid putting on weight. Also, remember that exercise does go a long way :)
