Mountain Trek offers all-inclusive packaged land vacations and programs at our exclusive lodge on southeastern British Columbia. These packages are comprised of the elements that we have determined are the best balance of fitness, fun, and relaxation for a healthy vacation.

Mountain Trek Fitness Retreat and Health Spa Programs

Our programs all include a balance of fitness (cardio, flexibility, and strength), nutrition (healthy weight loss menus), and relaxation (hot springs, massages, and some beauty treatments are available). We believe that you learn more by doing, rather than sitting in lectures, so all of our programs are "on-the-ground" experiences - you learn much more from our expert staff by hiking and eating with them.

I was blown away with how much Mountain trek fitness retreat had to offer considering the price. It’s hugely affordable! It is very comparable to other nice vacations that I’ve been on except that it offers so much more! Considering that food and activities are included, you really can’t beat this. Plus you come out on the other side of it actually a lot healthier and in a way better mood instead of getting home after a trip feeling tired, having gained weight, and needing to take more time to recover from a vacation! I travelled with my mother, who is in her mid sixties, so even though we’re in two totally different fitness groups, we both were able to completely enjoy ourselves and find exactly the right treatments and activities to make sure that we were getting the most out of every minute. This is the ultimate in specialized fitness resorts. I love that you can do a more general program if you aren’t really sure what you want to do or what your goals are, or you can tailor it to be very individualized so that you can make sure that it follows your personal program and suits your expectations. I think that I should take a moment to make sure that I mention the staff and how amazing they are because they truly were the ones who made the whole experience as magical as it was. From the reception to the kitchen team, they’re all super friendly and accommodating. I loved hiking in the surrounding area. The trains are very well maintained and are a great length and route. My mother and I stayed for one week. We’re the type who typically like to sleep in, we have a sort-of healthy eating habit but are both highly addicted to caffeine. By the time we left there, we weren’t hooked on caffeine, we had lost weight, and were a little bit more welcoming to the early morning hours. I never thought I’d be the type of person who could get up early to hike, but this proved that I was wrong! Since leaving there, I’ve continued my weight loss in a way that I never have before in my life. I still have a long way to go, but at least I know that it is achievable now and that I know how to actually do it, instead of feeling like I was guessing at it and continually taking on- and quitting –various diet programs. I am also enjoying being a happy caffeine-free tea drinker. I will have a coffee every now and again, but I’m no longer completely hooked on the stuff. I think that this was the best way to shake bad habits, free myself of stresses, learn how to treat my body right, and enjoy time with my mother at the same moment. This was truly one of the most special vacations that I’ve ever taken. I couldn’t have been happier with the results as well as the time when I was actually there.

you choose how much you get out of this
Before going to Mountain Trek spa, I can admit that I was a little bit nervous. I have been to many health spas in the past with my wife but this one appeared to be focused a great deal more on fitness than the ones I’d been to in the past. Before going I actually tried to get into better shape. I already walk every day, but I wanted to make sure that I was as good as I could be before going. I used my neighbor’s bowflex three times a week for a month before heading off to the resort. I read about this resort after having been to more “cushy” health spas and since I’m not athletic, I still had my worries, but I really wanted to give it a try and to push myself. I wanted to test to see if I could add hiking to the things that I can do, not just walking. I’ve been obese for a number of years and I am only just getting into the middle zone of being overweight instead of obese after a lot of hard work and weight loss. I packed knee braces and support bandages just in case haha. I found that ainsworth, british Columbia is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. I was a bit overwhelmed. First, I didn’t realize that it would be so difficult to fly into Castlegar. In case you’re ever headed on a trip in through that airport, it’s good for you to know (which I didn’t) that this airport is known for cancelling flights so you should have a backup plan. I didn’t, so I was late by a whole day. That said, all of my stress was gone upon arrival beause the scenery was so gorgeous. They welcomed me and my wife to the resort as though I had arrived right on time, and they made sure that we were set up with a delicious meal. It was a wonderful way to settle down after all of the mixups in the travel arrangements. After the meal, it didn’t take long to begin becoming oriented and strength training exercises began with the rest of the group. I realized right from the start that this place has YOUR fitness in mind, not just fitness in general. I did feel that I was pushed to the limit, but it was my limits, not someone else’s. There is a lot of structure and planning and you are given an outline for the full week when you get there. Your activities are structured quite solidly and they’re meant to make sure you get the most out of yoru own fitness level in every moment. At first, I didn’t know if this was really right for me because I’m not usually one for a regimented lifestyle, but as the days passed, I noticed positive changes in my body and I started feeling a lot more driven, energized, and capable. I learned a huge amount about nutrition, metabolism, detoxification, fitness, stress management, sleep, and proper goal setting. Everything was done in a comfortable setting and even though there were a lot of schedules, you never felt push or strained. Everything was interesting, relaxing, energizing, and easy to understand. YOu can participate and ask questions as much or as little as you want. YOu ...
book early -great place
To start off I just want to say that Mountain Trek Fitness Retreat was incredible, but the best advice that I can give you to experience the very best possible time there is to book as early as you can when you know when you’re going. I personally booked pretty late. I had been searching for a place that I could go solo and that would provide a healthy experience as well as a luxurious one. I didn’t want to feel like I was staying at a boot camp, but I didn’t want to just laze around and gain weight the whole time I was on vacation, either. Although I travelled alone, I wanted a place where I could feel like a part of a group and not just be the person sitting there every night at the restaurant at the table by myself. I wanted to be able to learn new things and return home and tell my friends about a lot of great things that I experienced and that I discovered, not just something more run of the mill. This is exactly what I found here at Mountain Trek . It was a little bit more of a fitness camp than what I was expecting it to be, but it was also geared toward relaxation enough that I didn’t mind at all. It didn’t make a chore out of fitness. Do be prepared to get your butt kicked by the workouts but to still be able to keep up the motivation and the drive to continue trying to do as much as you possibly can. This is the kind of place that you’ll go and work very hard, but also spoil yourself and leave in better shape than you came in, even if it’s only for a few days. It really helped me to get out of my “stuck” place after having lived a relatively sedentary life for the last while with sporadic attempts to be active. If you’re looking for a resort where you just have massages and never move around, though, then you’re not going to be happy here. This is a place that is geared toward everyone from very fit people to people who aren’t even close to fit but who are trying to be better. They give you a pretty regimented schedule, but I actually found that I learned from it and can fit a lot more healthy things into my life now that I’m at home because of it. Yoga is first thing, followed by a fitness level appropriate hike. I did cardio and strength every single day. Now I miss the routine of it. I’m not quite driven enough to make myself stick to quite that level of fitness. It already has me thinking of going back again even though I didn’t leave very long ago. I’m hoping to go back next year and be able ot do higher levels of fitness workouts. I’ll be proud of myself if I have progressed.
Life Changing
Going to Mountain Trek to improve my fitness was not the only goal that was achieved. My lifestyle has changed almost completely. I feel healthier overall and I have more confidence in myself when I set goals I plan to achieve. Thanks Mountain Trek!
