Quoting tobetinytina:
I also like another site called Science Daily. It’s a little bit more technical, but it gives a rundown of a lot of the most recent studies that have been published, including a large medical section.

What I like is that they write it out in “English” instead of medical jargon which makes it hard to understand. :sigh:

Thanks! This was a great tip! I like that it has health topics but other things, too. I enjoyed an article about space exploration the other day. I'm not all that scientific so I've never really gotten into that sort of thing, but this is written so that normal people can get it.

It's like the academic side of Google. The reason I recommend it is that it lets you search things like medical journals and other more "trustworthy" or professional sources so that you can check into the latest weight loss and health information that has been studied and discovered, and you can even find out if there has been research performed on the pills/supplemen ts/ingredients you want to take.

Other good websites are the ones that are the equivalent of the US Department of Health and Human Services, but for other countries where you know the medical systems are good.

For example, the ones from a lot of European countries, the UK, Canada, Australia, etc. Those are all countries that have similar health system standards and that have websites where you can get information about medications and conditions. Just remember that just because something has approval or is covered under insurance in one country, it doesn’t mean that it will be here.

WebMD has an awesome app that you can use in your smartphone or tablet that supports iPhone, iPad, or Android.

It has a list of conditions, a symptom checker, a tool for identifying pills, first aid recommendations , and even a feature that helps with local health resources. Definitely worth getting.

There is so much information available on the internet that it's hard to know what is actually reputable good solid medical advice, and what is just some guy's opinion.

There are a lot of very attractive and convincing websites out there that aren't based on any medical science at all. It's good to have sites like these available to help to make the right decisions.

Another really handy website that has a lot of useful information is the mayo clinic site at mayoclinic.com

Their information is very reliable and you can trust that they're not trying to sell a product.

if you have a condition you want to know about or if you want to learn about a lot of health facts and illnesses etc, then webmd is an unbelievably informative resource. it has tons of reliable information that you can trust, from actual doctors and scientists, not just opinions or people trying to sell things.

These are really good resources. I'd also recommend a site such as the Mayo Clinic, since they have a lot of information and reviews that can help to make an informed decision about anything health related, from dieting to nutrition, to skin care to illnesses and diseases and their treatments.
