I'm wondering if water pill are diet pills? If they are, are they good for weight loss? I'd like to try something that's not too harsh on my system but that doesn't have caffeine and other stimulants in it. Is this a good way to go?

They are not diet pills. They are used in some diet pills and some companies market them that way, but a diuretic doesn't actually aid in weight loss. The only weight you'll lose while taking them is water weight, which is weight you'll eventually gain right back. They increase the frequency of urination, which means your body will eliminate more water than normal. This can be dangerous if you don't stay hydrated. You really need to keep on top of you liquid intake when you take diuretics and you need to avoid ingesting beverages like alcohol and caffeine which also act like diuretics.

They're only good for the short-term, like you if you want to shrink down your water weight and get rid of a bloated look. They're not a long-term solution for weight loss and they're also not safe to take for a long period of time. Before you mess around with diuretics, you might want to research them and talk to you doctor.

Couldn't have said it better than Lia. Plain and simple, these aren't a solution for weight loss.Originally posted by lia View PostGina, hon, do yourself a favor and just stay away from diuretics. They aren't good for weight loss or for anything. They'll likely only end up causing you more harm than good.
