  • Sleep and weight loss/weight gain - a connection

Know how some people say that lack of sleep can effect your ability to lose weight and can cause weight gain? Turns out that they're probably not wrong. A recently published study shows that people who don't get adequate sleep and/or who don't feel rested upon waking up are more likely to struggle with weight loss. Turns out sleep is really, really important for lots of health reasons. I know most of you probably already know that, but in case you'd like to read more about it, this was the news I read with my cup of jo this morning that I found very interesting :) https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325629.php

Thanks for sharing. That was interesting :) Proper sleep really is important for so many things. Getting adequate rest just makes you a better human being (to yourself and to others) overall. It's amazing for both your physical and mental health. That being said, too much sleep can have the total opposite effect. Being lazy and sleeping all the time is bad for you, too.

Yes! Regular good sleep makes a MASSIVE difference to how you feel and to your health. Honestly, make an effort to sleep well for a week and you will feel like a new person by the end of it.

Why is everyone always so surprised by this? Sleep is amazing for you. It's essential to your health. Without sleep you'd die. Of course, it makes perfect sense that getting sufficient sleep does wonders for your physical and mental health, weight loss included. I'm way less more stressed when I've slept well consistently. So yes, Sleep is awesome!

I think we all just need a reminder to help motivate us to make better lifestyle choices and to make an effort to break bad habits we've developed over the years. I mean, I seriously developed the worst sleeping habits as a teen that got even worse in my 20's. Now that I'm in my 40's I still slip into these stupid habits from time to time and I forget how bad it is for me. I'm always glad when they release studies that confirm just how important certain things are.

I know when I get proper rest on a regular basis I always feel way better and I eat better and I have more energy than when I don't. This is definitely true and I wish it was promoted more as part or regular health and weight loss.
