Can meditation help with motivation? I'm thinking about doing this daily. My best friend engages in meditation practices and since she has she sounds a lot more positive and just generally more content in her life. I'm hoping that my engaging in meditation the same will happen for me and it will also help to motivate me with my weight loss goals. Has anyone tried meditation? Am I getting my hopes up that it will actually help me with my weight loss goals?

Meditation can help with weight loss, especially one form in particular that is known as mindfulness meditation. If you go on youtube, look it up an you should be able to get an idea of what it's all about. Plus, I think there are articles written about it online, too. It's certainly worth trying in my opinion, especially if it's something that doesn't take a lot of time, doesn't require an equipment and it's free.

Mindfullness meditation? This seems odd. Isn't all meditation technically mindful? Isn't it about relaxing your mind and focusing on positive things and stuff like..."imagine you're sailing on an ocean..now listens to the water and let it wash over you, now become the water..." and stuff like that? I can totally see how stuff like that might relax you on the whole...so like help you de-stress. I just don't see how it can actually help you to lose weight...Originally posted by lia View PostMeditation can help with weight loss, especially one form in particular that is known as mindfulness meditation. bonniekins I was kind of thinking the same thing, but there are actually all different types of meditations. Technically they are all about the mind, but it's the technique that makes them different. :)

I've actually found that meditation is great for motivation and so are exercises like tai chi. I find anything that requires you to focus your mind is just fantastic for helping to reset your brain. When your brain is reset, you're less stressed, you're ready to take on projects/tasks/problems and you're driven again to do what's good for you :)
