    Fall blues

The Fall is here and I know that Winter is coming soon. I hate the cold time of year and find it so depressing and longggg. It snows a lot where I live and I'm not ready to face it. I need something to look forward to and motivation to stay on track with exercise and diet so I don't gain all the weight back that I lost over summer. Help! Any motivational tips are welcome

OMG I know what you mean! It's freaky-cold where I am, too. Honestly, if I didn't know better I'd swear it was January! Meanwhile where my cousin lives in Australia its so freaky dry and hot that they've got loads of wildfires there...but, you know, climate change doesn't exist...

Take up a winter sport! If you've never gone skiing maybe think about learning. I find that doing things outdoors, especially in the fall and winter can be a lot of fun, can cheer you up, and can help you with weight loss while you're at it!

I have to agree. It's all about changing things up and making things different. Investigate what type of programs, volunteer work, etc. are offered in your community and get involved. You might find that going out and doing something good for someone else will not only mean you burn more calories but you're doing something meaningful too, which can make a huge difference to your positive outlook!

I agree! Make an effort to engage in activities that are fun. If you can't afford to take a class or there is some other reason why this would be hard, consider getting together with friends who want to lose weight once a week and plan a healthy low-cal meal and snacks and play a game after that requires you to move around. There are actually both video games and board games designed for this exact purpose!

I would recommend enrolling in a fitness class, dance class, skiing lessons, skating lessons, etc. something that you like, that requires you to go outside of your home and will require you to engage in physical activity once you're there. This way, you have something to look forward to and you're getting exercise, no matter what the weather is doing outside :)
