I'm pretty sure that's just a slang name for weight loss surgery where they reduce the size of your stomach. Bariartric surgery or something like that.

I'm pretty sure that they say that they are staples out of slang. I think that it is done with stitches and that it is actually quite an involved process. You have to go through quite a lot while you're in recovery from it, including a liquid only diet for quite some time, before you ease yourself into soft and then solid foods.

It's a very tough procedure. I wouldn't want to do it. It's sometimes needed when everything else has failed and health is on the line.
