    I’m just passing on this tip because it’s worked well for me. If I diet “casually”, then I tend to find that I’m really not dedicated to it.

    Don’t be casual about your diet. Be serious about it with education, organization, and motivation!

    You're really right about this. I tried to just "cut back" on a casual kind of level and I didn't really do very much and then the entire effort sort of fizzled out after less than a week. A diet is a specific effort.

      If you aren't ready to put absolutely everyhting you have into dieting and to make sure that you are ready to stick to it over the long term with a healthy lifestyle then you may as well not do it at all. constantly failing will be harder on you than slow and gradual weight loss once you're actually ready to dedicate yourself to it.
