  • Log more - lose more

Apparently, in spite of all the different diets and dieting techniques out there, the one that is still the most effective according to researchers is tracking and logging your weight loss progress. Researchers found that as much as people hate having to track their weight loss, the more frequently they did it, the easier it got over time and the more successful these people were. I read this article https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324562.php which talked all about it. I'm feeling way more motivated to do this myself now. I hate tracking, but it seems to really work :)

That does actually make a lot of sense. That said, I can see why this method also doesn't work because people are lazy! Myself included. Plus, I find logging can be really discouraging. You can't lie to yourself and when you see the mistakes and bad choices you make in front of your face, it makes you feel bad, which may encourage you to give up with the tracking. I'm not saying that's a good thing or that someone should stop, I just mean I can see why this method works, but why it's rarely adopted. I mean, if we all just did it...weight loss wouldn't be the massive issue and struggle it is today, right?

It always seems like the best weight loss techniques are the ones we already know...they're just the ones that take the longest to adopt. I think everyone's so eager for a quick and easy fix that they just don't want to do it. We're all so spoiled we have a hard time saying "no" to ourselves and it's become a lifestyle.

Honestly it is true. If you actually know how many calories you need to eat in a day to lose weight and you track what you eat as you eat it, you're less likely to go over the number and you will lose weight. If you add exercise into the mix (which you should anyway) you'll lose even more. You'll also find that it's not really about changing your diet as much as it's about reducing the amount that you eat. Saying "no" to that extra portion that you really don't need is what it's all about. Of course, eating healthier is something you should just do for your health and wellness as a whole, but honestly, there are lots of ways that you can reduce the calories you eat and most of it really has to do with saying no to that second helping :)

I've started tracking my calories and increasing the amount of exercise I do in a day and I've got to tell you that it's making a difference compared to anything else I've done. There are times when I want to crack and eat that extra portion or that dessert, but I know that I don't need it and I simply choose not to eat it. Honestly, I haven't even changed much of my diet. I'm just more aware of what I'm consuming and how much I'm consuming and I'm finding out how to make the most of my calories. Logging really does work and it's sooooo much easier than people think.

Agreed! It is easier than people think. It also doesn't nearly take as long to do as most people think it does, especially with so many online programs that make it easy to do the work for you :)

It's true, which is why we should just do it. We've always got some excuse why we don't want to do the simplest thing and that just needs to stop if you actually want to put your health and weight loss first. Tracking your calories and what you eat isn't hard, it's just a nuisance for 2 reasons. 1 - you would rather be doing something else with that 2 minutes and 2 - you don't actually want to see that you've blown your calorie limit or that you need to cut back. Essentially, we all just need to grow up, take responsibility for our health and do it. Making excuses and not wanting to do it just isn't good enough anymore.
