Did you guys hear about this latest study that says drinking coffee can help with weight loss because it stimulates brown fat, which essentially causes thermogenesis. This is apparently the first study to show that drinking coffee has a direct effect on how brown fat functions in our body. That said, the researchers don't yet know if it's caffeine or something else in the coffee or both that's having the positive effect. This is super-exciting news because I love coffee and wanted to share. Here's the link to the new article talking about the study that i read https://www.independent.co.uk/news/h...-a8973201.html

This is very exciting! That said, do they explain in the study that likely to enjoy the effects the coffee needs to be black and you should have it in conjunction with exercise. I really wish when media reported on studies they actually explained to people all the details. What most people are going to take from this news is that drinking a cup of coffee in the morning is going to lead to weight loss, which isn't true.

Who knows. I'm just thrilled that they even found it has any effects at all. Thanks for sharing this Chefmel. It was great to wake up to this news, especially since I've got my cup of coffee with me right here :DOriginally posted by jenny25 View PostI'm also curious what it is about the coffee that helps with fat loss. Like, is it the caffeine or another ingredient or a combination of everything. I know the researchers don't know yet, but this will be interesting to learn!

It is likely the caffeine. It has already been proven that it can help with metabolism, now they've simply found that it ca have a direct impact on brown fat. Even if it turns out another component of the coffee is beneficial, caffeine will still be a part of it.Originally posted by jenny25 View PostI'm also curious what it is about the coffee that helps with fat loss.
