More Americans are obese than overweight

I can across this news yesterday and I was completely stunned! There was a study that discovered that the number of Americans who are obese out number those who are overweight! That's shocking and really, really alarming.

Researchers from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis approximate that 67.6 million Americans over 25 were obese as of 2012, and an extra 65.2 million were overweight. Their research was based on information collected between 2007 and 2012 as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, which was a continual study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

To read more about the study, you can find it here:

I agree. Seeing so many overweight and obese children is very sad. It makes me think that the younger generation is going to have health problems so much earlier in life :(

Am I the only one who doesn't find this study surprising? I don't know where you guys live, but honestly open your eyes. I swear where I live seeing a normal-sized person is starting to be a rare-find

Yikes! That is bad. I honestly thought at first that this study was referring to more people being overweight, but I was stunned when I saw it was obesity. I've also heard that obesity is pretty bad in the UK, too.

Wow...that is really, disturbing and sad for so many reasons. I think it's not only a serious problem that so many people are obese, but the fact that so few people either don't care enough about their health to improve their lifestyle or that they don't know how to effectively do it is sad.
