I know weight can make veracose veins worse but if I lose weight will they also go away?

I don't think so. I think once you have varicose veins you've got them for life unless you actually have them surgically removed. There are things that you can do to provide relief from symptoms, but to actually get rid of the veins themselves, pretty sure only surgery does that.

Lose weight and then consider surgery if you actually want to remove them. If you do take the surgery route (which has a great success rate) just remember that it won't be cheap.

In addition to not being cheap, there is some recovery time involved as well. This isn't just some simple procedure you get and you're back to normal as soon as you leave the doctor's office. If you are going to get this done, make sure you have the time to heal properly.

I agree with everyone else that they won't go away on their own without surgery. Losing weight, wearing compression stockings and stay off your feet as much as possible and resting your legs so that they are elevated above your heart can help ease discomfort, but that's about it. Once you got them you've got them.

Oh :( what a bummer. :( I really thought they might improve in appearance...Thanks everyone for your honesty. I guess in the new year I might start looking into surgeries. Does anyone know if they come back once they are fixed?
