I really love pasta, but I know it's not the best for you. Is there a way to make healthy pasta? And please don't offer me noodle alternatives, for instance, I'm not looking for recipes with spiraled vegetables or eggplant Parmesan or lasagna, thanks :)

I agree with Maggie. It's about making sure there's more veggies than pasta and avoiding pre-made and packaged sauces (include just plain tomato sauce) because they're full of sugar, salt and a bunch of other stuff to be flavorful. Another idea is to try fiber-enhanced pasta, so while it still tastes like white pasta it just a bit better for you.

Actually, I really like that fiber pasta. It's surprisingly good and it doesn't taste all hard, weird and unpleasant like whole wheat.Originally posted by chefmel View PostI agree with Maggie. There's also one that's got a lot of green in it, too. That said, I don't think these pastas actually offer much health benefits. I have to agree that if you want pasta to be healthy, you just need to up the veggie content and try to avoid adding other carbs into the mix like breads.Originally posted by brightstar View Post

Yup! Veggies all the way. Pasta is just a big ol' carb. There's nothing wrong with that, but if you want to up the healthy factor, it's definitely about adding more fiber and plant-based sources of protein. Personally, I love adding chickpeas to my pasta dishes :)
