I've recently decided to be become Vegan and I will be going on a trip to Europe soon. I was wondering how hard is it to be vegan when you travel? I'll be going to England and France specifically and I was wondering if there are any tips my fellow vegans can give me when I travel to stay true to my diet choice as much as possible.

It can be difficult to be vegan when you travel. depending on where you're headed. Since you are going to England and France you shouldn't have too much of a problem. I'd recommend checking out what restaurants are in the areas where you'll be staying. You can always as the servers at restaurants if they have vegan options, too.

This is a good tip. Another suggestion is to go to local supermarkets when you're travelling to pick up vegan snacks. I find this is really helpful for lunch and breakfast (even if I'm staying in a hotel).Originally posted by Beth View PostIt can be difficult to be vegan when you travel. depending on where you're headed. Research is always a good idea! Another good idea is to ask locals you meet. I find that most people are pretty friendly when I travel. Even if I don't fully know the language, as long as I try, I can get by. Also, if you're going to be staying in large cities, you also might find that you have more vegan/vegetarian options. Hope you have a great time!Originally posted by tobetinytina View PostThanks for the tips guys! I do appreciate your advice. I'm hoping that I'll be able to find restaurants that have at least vegetarian options. I've been doing a lot of research, so I think I know what to look/ask for. Appreciate it!

Agreed! Asking folks in the area for recommendations has always worked well for me. I always find that people are super-nice no matter where I go :)Originally posted by 1000kw View Post

Couldn't agree more. Locals are always your best shot at finding all the good stuff in the area. They provide you with all the non-touristy and authentic stuff that usually tastes better, too. That said, I think it would be far easier to find vegetarian alternative to full-on vegan, because with vegan stuff you need to know a lot more about what ingredients are being used (like where they are sourced, etc.). Then again, it does also depend on where you are going. Major cities typically have better options than the really small towns.Originally posted by Paplo View Post
