What is the best and most accurate scale for weighing yourself and what surface is best, too? I'm really trying to get an accurate reading

Probably the ones used as doctor's offices and hospitals are the best and most accurate. For home use, honestly getting a digital or dial scale is fine. Place it on the flatest and hardest surface you can find (not carpet) and keep it out of rooms where there's a lot of humidity and moisture like bathrooms, as the moisture might mess with the electronics, particularly in the case of a digital scale.

I agree. I really think a scale should be used as a tool. No matter where you put it in your home, once you find a place you like, leave it there and always use this same spot to weigh yourself. Even if it's not an entirely accurate reading, as long as it is consistent about the inaccurate reading, you can still get a good idea if you're losing any weight because the number should still go down. In terms of the best scale, I personally like the digital ones.Originally posted by bruceH View PostI'd also add that even if the scale isn't 100% accurate, it's probably still within the ballpark of your weight so you can still use it as a guide and track if you're losing any weight at all.

Thanks for mentioning the moisture thing Lia! I had no idea that that could even be an issue but that makes a lot of sense. My first instinct is to always put the scale in the bathroom . I'm going to put it somewhere else and see if I get better results. I've decided to buy a digital scale BTW. Just easier to read.Originally posted by lia View PostProbably the ones used as doctor's offices and hospitals are the best and most accurate.
