I came across this weight loss supplement ingredient called octopamine and I read that it's in bitter orange. Isn't that herb where synephrine comes from, too? is octopamine another name for syneprhine and is it just as dangerous?

It's not synephrine, but it's another stimulant compound in bitter orange. It can also be dangerous and has been deemed an illegal substance by the world Anti-doping agency. It has also never been tested in humans. I would be very cautious about taking a supplement that contains it.

Seriously, why hasn't it been banned? Do a certain number of people have to get really sick or die before that happens? You know, it wouldn't even be so bad if the same herb (and the dangerous substances within it) all didn't have so many different freak'n names.
