I know hoodia isn't supposed to be the best, but what about Saffron? I've read some studies that suggest it has the potential to suppress appetite. Has anyone taken saffron supplements? Do they seems to help with curbing hunger?

I've heard that it helps some people with appetite suppression. That said, considering the cost of this spice, I can't imagine that it's a practical solution. Also, I have no idea if the herb and the supplement form has the same effects.

That's what I would wonder, if the actual herb you get to add to food would be the same as the supplement form. I think the studies involving saffron and appetite suppression have been done on supplements. I think it can help, it just doesn't cause weight loss. Just like fat burners, it's up to you what you do with the support it gives you that dictates how much weight you might lose.

I feel the same. I don't really think there are good appetite suppressants on the OTC market. I think the best appetite suppressants are probably chemical drugs and I don't think they're worth taking cause all the other side effects suck.Originally posted by Mike View PostI doubt it's good for weight loss.

I don't think anyone knows what it specifically is, but those who think it works to help curb hunger and reduce cravings believe that it may increase herb levels of serotonin, which helps prevent compulsive overeating and the weight gain that can result from this over intake of food.

Have you ever thought of just taking a saffron supplement and trying it to see if it works? I mean, if you're allergic to it or it conflicts with a medical problem or medication you're currently taking, that's something else. That's a good point, that said, I would just like to add that I don't believe in appetite suppression pills. An appetite suppressant isn't going to stop me from eating a whole cake, that's something I need to choose not to do.Originally posted by tara View Post

Very true, but maybe if you take an appetite suppressant that works, you won't feel so hungry so it'll be easier to choose not to eat something.Originally posted by legendarytroy View Post
