Hi Everyone,
Was reading in the paper, this morning and saw this article in the Globe and Mail from Canada (found it through Google News) that I found interesting and I wanted to share it. How eating a bigger breakfast can help you achieve your weight loss goals - The Globe and Mail
It says that people who eat bigger breakfasts will lose weight better. It's actually a pretty interesting article about choosing the right food and actually eating a bigger quantity at breakfast so that you will lose weight. That is interesting to me because I used to skip breakfast (which I now know is bad) but since then, I've always thought that the best strategy is to eat a small breakfast so that you save up more calories to eat at lunch and dinner. Nope, turns out I was wrong.

The reason is that I find that if I eat a big breakfast, Im’ really satisfied for a good hour afterward and then I’m hungrier throughout the day that I normally would be! So not only will I have eaten a lot of calories at breakfast but then I end up eating a lot more for the rest of the day because I’m hungry then, too!

The key is to eat things like protein and stuff that will fill you up and keep you filled up, right from the start but that will still get your metabolism going at the same time. Have a boiled egg and whole grain low sugar, low sodium cereal or something like that. Add a bit of fruit to it if you want it to be a little more zippy. That should keep you going way longer than a breakfast shake or bar.

This really makes a lot of sense to me. If you start off the day right, giving yourself a way to push your hunger down and a way to keep your metabolism running right from the start then you will be able to eat less and burn more fat with greater ease. It’s not that eating a good breakfast makes you lose more weight, but it gives you a better way to take control of your choices so that the fat loss is an automatic outcome.
