  • Do cleansing and detoxifying products work?

I am really curious if cleansing and detoxifying products link Isagenix, Almighty Colon Cleanse, etc. really work. I would like to try one, but I have no idea which ones out there are truly effective.

Also, I am a bit afraid that it will be too gross to handle - some of the pictures on the net really got to me. Does that really happen?

    ???

Re: Do cleansing and detoxifying products work?

Some cleansing products show the most disgusting pictures of these huge things people pass when on the diet. If you look up cleansing diets on the internet you will find these scary picturers in no time. :P

Re: Do cleansing and detoxifying products work?

I think this new product Alli is a cleansing/detoxing product. But the side effects sound terrible! loose stools and oily discharge.
Sorry, but I haven't worn diapers for almost 38 years, not going to restart now.

LOL - No Kidding eh! ;D
          Another product to avoid.
Seems like most of the diet products out there are designed to do one thing... take your money!

Detox Foot Pads - What's the Catch?

This is the first time I have heard of these Detox Foot Pads. Interesting stuff.

I am a skeptic for sure, but won't knock it without trying it first, usually. However, that won't happen in this case because I won't buy something that seems like a big scam.

I googled the Detox Foot Pads and found this great article here Foot Detox Pads, Do They Really Work? Actually, it's not the article that's good, but the discussion that follows with some people saying Detox Foot Pads are a scam and then some other very sincere and convincing people describing how they have been helped. Really interesting debate.

I guess what sticks out in my mind the most though is the comment that was made by a woman Rebecca who claims to be the owner of purifyyourbody.com (the website above that is selling the foot pads). Rebecca states,

"I have had many people "TEST" the pads in a lab... to do this correctly you need to test an un-used, un-altered pad using it as a control. Then, you test a used pad. Many lab reports show lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium (how does one get cadmium in their system!!) and also pthlalates which are plastic by-products. This shows that the pads DO pull these heavy metals out of your body."

Well, my goodness, such scientific research. So I went to purifyyourbody.com to read about their double-blind studies and control groups and all their product research results that I just assumed they would be proud enough to display on their website as proof their product works. And I'll admit I was disappointed to find that THERE'S NOT ONE MENTION OF THEIR RESEARCH ! C'mon now, if your product was that tested and really worked that research would be smeared all over your site.

            Just something to think about.

I have to agree with guinea piggy. How does a pad that you stick underneath your feet have the ability to absorb toxins from all over your body? I have always had a hard time understanding exactly how that could work. What do they use to draw toxins? Do they explain the process step-by-step?

geee... human beings can't live with mercuries and other metallic elements inside the body. it will poison you right on the spot. that's a funny way of saying that its effective method of detoxification, you cant be serious in really finding such toxic substances on the our system.

if you want to detoxify your body, try to eat foods like rice, vegies such as broccoli sprouts, artichokes, cauliflower, etc.. dont forget to drink lots of water too.

i agree. most detox diet advocates suggest people to drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday to cleanse your body from all "toxins". there are other ways to cleanse your system, just choose a method that seems sensible for you.

I wouldn't call them diet product as such, as most of what you lose is water.

However I do like the idea of detoxification, however see your doctor about it and see what he or she recommends, there's way too much rubbish stuff on the internet.

I've heard similar things to this from a few medical reports. They said that you do actually get a lot of water from your food so you might not need to chug all those glasses.

The funny thing is, at the same time, there are other reports that say that if you're feeling thirsty, that's already a sign that you're dehydrated, so you shouldn't let yourself get to that point.

I just try to keep myself hydrated by drinking regular glasses of water. I don't measure it, but I keep a glass next to me at all times. That way, I guess I let my body's instincts guide me. If the studies can't agree, at least I can let my body do its own thing
