Lishou is a weight loss product sold internationally online as well as within certain retail stores, and that is associated with one of the most dubious track records in the industry.

In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a special Public Notification warning consumers against purchasing this product. In fact, the company behind Lishou, Yunnan Bai’an Medicinal Science & Technology Co. Ltd., has been in trouble with the FDA on numerous occasions.

The type of FDA Public Notification that was issued regarding Lishou isn’t posted for minor offenses or because a product has been determined to be ineffective. This is the sort of notice that is designed to warn people against issues that are potentially dangerous to their health. For instance, the title of the notice in this case was ‘“Lishou” Contains Undeclared Drug Ingredient.”

Within it, the FDA specifically advised consumers against purchasing this product because one the administration’s laboratory analyses confirmed the presence of sibutramine within the Lishou diet pills. Not only was that substance not listed on the product package, but it is a controlled substance in the United States. The FDA removed it from the American market in October 2010 due to safety reasons. Among the safety reasons include the fact that it is known to increase pulse rate and/or blood pressure. For individuals with any history of heart disease, coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, stroke or other similar conditions, this could be life threatening.

As the ingredient isn’t even listed on the product package, individuals at risk of the worst possible reactions could take it without knowing they are placing themselves in danger. Sibutramine also interacts with certain common medications in a life threatening way.

The FDA advises that any consumer who have Lishou should “stop using this product immediately and throw it away.” It also cautions consumers who think they might have had an adverse reaction to the product to seek medical attention right away.

As a result of this posting it would be absolutely impossible to recommend the use of Lishou. Instead, any health or medical professional will only recommend that the product not be used and that a patient disposes of any quantities he or she may already have. Moreover, doctors are advised by the FDA to report any cases of the use of this product among their patients to the FDA using the administration’s MedWatch Safety Information and Adverse Event Reporting Program, which can be found and completed online.
