Healthy weight is a range of weights recommended for generally healthy adults. How is your healthy weight calculated? Your healthy weight is based on your Body Mass Index (BMI). Doctors often use BMI to determine if a person is underweight, at a healthy weight or is overweight. This weight is shown in a general range from minimum to maximum pounds.

 

This calculator is intended to be used as a general guide for adults and does not apply if you are pregnant, very muscular or fit and in all circumstances. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about your weight.

 

If you are above the healthy weight range, see your doctor to work out a program to help you reach a healthy weight. If you fall below the healthy weight range, or are losing weight unintentionally, see your doctor to make sure you don’t have any health problems. If you fall within the healthy weight range, that’s great! You should still watch what you eat and get regular exercise.

This tool would only be valid for a small percentage of people. Most of the data used in the creation of said calculator was derived from the MET Life insurance research done in the 1950's. Body type, athleticism, age lean body mass are just a few of the many factors you must consider. That being said, BMI is not a very accurate method either.

I tried this healthy weight loss calculator for men and women on my dog’s height and weight and the results were hilarious. I guess this is really meant for humans (of course it is, but it was still funny). :lol:

I am 73. Since june of 2011 I have gained in excess of 75 pounds. I had a hart Cath done on 3-27 just one week ago today. You will not believe this. I do not have a cloged artery at all. But I do have Degenedvy (spelling) Sorry hart failure. My heart Dr. tole me to day that I have at least 30 pounds of liquid in my bode. last jyne I wayed 228 pounds today I wayed 301. My leg are so swollen and hurt so bed. I need a diet I dont want to die. If there is some one out there that can give ma a meal plan that tell me what to eat. I mean at each and every meal. I will for ever be in your debit.

This doesn't align with what my doctor said. This calculator just doesn't take in enough details to provide results. Your gender and your height aren't enough factors to consider to determine what you should weigh in order to be at your healthiest. There are a lot of other issues, too. Be very careful how seriously you use the results of an online tool like this. It can give you a general guide, but don’t use it as a solid rule.

I like that there is a separate calculator for men and women since we have different overall needs for weight.

I think everybody should use this tool at the start of their diets.

Too many people look at celebrities and models and think that this is the right weight and the way that they should look. But really, you need to find the right body weight for you and be happy with the results that you earn.

Use this, and with the help of your doctor and a good healthy diet you'll know that you've achieved the proper results and that you look fantastic.

I’m goal oriented so when I know my aim, then I will always be more successful than when I just say “I want to lose weight”. Having a goal helps you to have a plan so that you can follow it more carefully and then eventually achieve your weight loss.

This is a great tool! I like it a lot more than the body mass index calculator because it gives me an actual idea of what my goal should be and I can measure it on a scale. I'm sure BMIs are good but I can't really figure them out in terms of scale measurements or my belt size.
